Dreaming Dirty in MI 2019

Better late than never, right? I got super sick with a UTI that refused to go away... one ER visit, three rounds of antibiotics later, lots of whining, and I'm hoping this bastard is gone for good. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired, as the song goes. Due to that, I wasn't able to post about my second event ever!

Dreaming Dirty in Michigan was held at the beautiful Hilton Garden Inn in Ann Arbor. First off, it is not the hotel you think it is. We drove all around the two hotel-looking structures in the front, before mom decided to just keep following the road around. Surprise- the hotel we needed was at the very back. Thank God for mom, I’d have never realized I had to keep driving. My hair may be pink, but underneath I am a natural blonde, folks.

The event itself was a blast. There were tons of readers and authors wandering through shopping. My favorite moment was when Crimson Syn came over. She said my cover was ‘staring at her’ from across the room, so she had to come see what it was. I loved that! 🙂 I was so excited to have my best friend and her mom there for the first time ever, and it was so fun watching them enjoy the atmosphere and how friendly and awesome everyone is.

My niece came along this time too. She bought a book, finished it, and went up to tell the author how much she liked it. That author came and found us later and gave Mae her table prize. I thought that was just the sweetest thing. I wasn’t able to catch her name as I was buried in my own messes, but thank you so much. You made that little girl’s week.

It was great seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. The event was run well, there were plenty of authors and readers in attendance, and the organizers were on hand throughout the entire event in case anyone had any questions or concerns. I took quite a few books, and came home with… not very many left.

The one thing I’ve disliked at both events I’ve been to is that there hasn’t been a sound system set up. Being hearing impaired and with the general noise level of events, it’s impossible to hear the raffle tickets being called out. I really wish someone would bring like… even a karaoke machine or something with a microphone to get some volume for those.

Otherwise, a strong event, and one I’m excited to attend for 2020. On to the next!
